THE PURPLE RULES
To implement the innovative design of the cards, there are special game rules created for use with this deck which expand the possibilities of scoring when playing any card game. These exclusive rules used with the Bicycle® Purple Poker Pack are called the Purple Rules. The Purple Rules modify the rules of almost any classic card game to add a new dynamic of strategy and game play.
The basis for all card games played with the Purple Pack using the Purple Rules is the use of the 7 Colors. There are 7 Ranks in each of the 7 Colors for a total of 49 cards plus 2 Jokers.
A major modification to the Standard Rules of card games by the Purple Rules is for the Colors to have the same game play function as the standard Suits and Ranks. This modification is applied in different ways to all card games played with the Purple Rules.
Another modification which is used for most card games is the assignment of Point Numbers to each of the 49 Main Cards. The Rank Point Number and Color Point Number are used for Tie Breaks and for Scoring in many Purple Rules card games.
Except for the Purple Rules modifications, the Standard Rules for any individual card game apply.

THE RANK POINTS AND COLOR POINTS
Scoring: Rank Point and Color Point Scoring is determined by the way the card is used. If the card is used as a Rank Match in a Hand, the Rank Point Number is used to score. Likewise, If the card is used as a Color Match in a Hand, the Color Point Number is used to score. In some games both Point Numbers are used.
For example, in Trick-Taking Games the Point Numbers for the cards won in Tricks are totaled and added to a Player or Team’s Score. In Blackjack the Rank Points are used to determine the total of the cards. With any card game that uses Point Values for the cards in scoring, the Rank Points or Color Points are used.
Tie Breaks: In the event of a Tie between Hands, the High Card is usually used to decide the Tie. With the Purple Rules, the High Card is determined by the Rank Point Number or the Color Point Number. If a card uses its Rank to form a Hand, the Rank Point Number is used. If a card uses its Color to form a Hand, the Color Point Number is used. If the cards are still Tied, the total from adding the Rank Point Number and the Color Point Number is used. The Aces and Black Spades with Point Numbers of 7 are superior in the event of a Tie.

DISTRIBUTION AND PROBABILITIES
When playing card games with the Purple Rules, the probability of matching cards with the same Rank are significantly increased. Of A Kind Poker Hands and Rummy Set Melds are two examples where matching Ranks are used in card games.
In a Standard Deck there are 3 cards which match Rank for every card in the deck (not including the Jokers). In the Bicycle® Purple Poker Pack there are 6 cards that match every card with the same Rank Point Number, and 6 cards that match every card with the same Color Point Number, which acts like a Rank (not including the Jokers).
The Jack of Blue Diamonds is shown below as an example to demonstrate the possible matches for each card in this unique deck.
With 12 cards possible to match Rank in this deck, compared to 3 cards in a Standard Deck, there are 4 times as many matching cards available.

THE JOKERS
There are 2 Jokers included in this custom deck. These Jokers feature the classic Bicycle® Jokers art. One of the Jokers is colored Purple and the other is Gold.
Like the Jokers in a Standard Deck of cards, the Bicycle® Purple Poker Pack Jokers are Wild Cards. They can be declared as any Rank, any Suit, or any Color.
Playing games with the Jokers adds an increased factor of luck to card games, which can add an extra level of excitement. To minimize luck and maximize strategy, all Purple Rules games have the option to be played without the Jokers.

The Purple Rules used with the Purple Pack offer more options in game play, which allows for more strategy. More strategy increases the challenge in winning any classic card game.
There are 5 Game Rules Cards included in the Purple Pack which have Purple Rules for several popular card games. There are Purple Rules for Poker Games, Trick-Taking Games, Rummy Games, Blackjack, and Pinochle.
For a full set of the Purple Rules with Standard Rules for the Purple Rules Games are available on the PURPLE RULES GAMES page.
