PURPLE RULES FOR I DOUBT IT
Purple Rules Modifications:
A Rank or a Color can be matched, instead of a Rank in the Standard Rules.
A Declarer says which which Rank and Color must be matched, not a specific Rank in sequence like some Standard Rules.
Players Challenge by saying “Bluff”, or they can say “I doubt it”, “cheat”, or “bullshit” like some Standard Rules.
Object of the Game: The first Player to discard all of the cards in their Hand, without Challenge or by winning a Challenge, wins the game.
Number of Players: 3 to 7 Players with 1 deck.
The Deal: The entire deck, with the option of including the 2 Jokers, is dealt 1 card at a time Face Down to all of the Players. Some Players may have 1 more card than the others.
The Declarer: The first declarer in turn can be decided by any method. The Declarer places 1 card from their Hand Face Down to a Discard Pile between all of the Players. The Declarer says the Color and the Rank of the card to the other Players.
On each Turn: The other Players, on their turn going clockwise, place 1 card from their Hand Face Down on top of the Discard Pile or Pass their turn.
If a Player places a card, they must say that it is the same Rank, or say that it is the same Color, of the Declared Card even if it isn’t.
The next Declarer: When the turn comes back to the Declarer, the Player to the Left of the current Declarer becomes the new Declarer. Like the first Declarer, the Player places 1 card from their Hand and Declares its Color and Rank. The following Players place 1 card on top of the Discard Pile and say that it is the same Rank or say that it is the same Color of the Declared Card until it is the current Declarer’s turn.
The next Declarer is determined the same way.
Bluffing: Players do not have to place cards that match the Rank or the Color of the Declared Card and do not have to be the Color or Rank that they say. The Declarer can not Bluff and must Declare the actual Color and Rank of the Declared Card.
The Challenge: Each time a Player places a card on the Discard Pile and says that it matches the Rank or the Color of the Declared Card, any other Player, including the Declarer, can Challenge by saying “Bluff”. If more than 1 Player Challenges, the Player who spoke first is the Challenger.
If the Challenged Player’s cards are not the Rank they said, or the Color they said, they pick up the entire Discard Pile.
If the cards are the Rank they said, or the Color they said, the Challenger picks up the entire Discard Pile.
Basic Strategy:
When playing with Standard Rules and a Standard Deck there are only 3 cards that can match any Declared Rank. With the Bicycle® Purple Poker Pack and the Purple Rules there are 6 cards that can match the Rank and 6 cards that can match the Color of any card. This makes it much more likely that a Player has a card that matches the Rank or the Color of the Declared Card. This makes it harder to determine if a Player is Bluffing. Players will need to try to keep track of how many cards of any Rank or any Color have been played or declared.
