Purple Rules Modifications:

There are 7 Foundations of the 7 Colors, not 4 Foundations of the 4 Suits like the Standard Rules.

A card placed on a Tableau Pile, or moved to another Tableau Pile, must be the same Suit as the top card and one Rank lower, not the opposite Color of Red or Black like the Standard Rules.

A new Foundation Pile is formed with an Eight Card, not an Ace like the Standard Rules.

A new Tableau Pile is formed by an Ace, not a King like the Standard Rules.

Object of the Game:  To place or move all of the cards to the 7 Foundations.

The Tableau:  To start, a layout of 7 Piles called the Tableau is formed.  All of the 49 main cards are shuffled.  No Jokers are used.

The first Pile starting on the Left has 1 card, the second Pile to the Right has 2 cards, then the third Pile has 3 cards, etc. to the seventh Pile which has 7 cards.  The top card of each Pile is turned Face Up.  The remaining cards are the Player’s Hand.

The 7 Foundations:  There will be 7 Foundations, one for each of the 7 Colors directly above the 7 Tableau Piles if the cards to form them are available.  Each Foundation is started by an Eight Card from 1 of the Colors.  A Foundation is completed by adding a card that is the same Color and one Rank higher than the top card in the Foundation until the Ace is placed.

On each Turn:  The Player reveals the top card of their Hand one at a time.  They can place it on the Tableau or the Foundation if matches the top card of a Pile.  When a card is placed on a Pile it is placed so that the top of the card under it shows the Index with the Rank and Suit Icon.

To place a card on a Tableau Pile it must be the same Suit as the top card and one Rank lower.

To place a card on a Foundation it must be an Eight Card to start a new Foundation Pile, or the same Suit as the top card and one Rank higher.

If a card is not placed on a Pile, it is put into a Discard Pile Face Up.  When all of the cards in the Players hand are used, the Discard Pile is turned over and the cards become a new Hand, with the top card played again in the same order.

Moving a card on the Tableau:  Any Face Up card on a Tableau Pile can be moved if it is one Rank lower than the top card of another Tableau Pile and the same Suit.  When a card is moved, every card in the Pile above it also moves with it.

If all of the cards in a Tableau Pile are moved and the Pile space is empty, a new Tableau Pile can be formed with an Ace.  The new Tableau Pile will hold the Ace, then the King, Queen, Jack, Ten, Nine, and Eight of the same Suit in order.

Hard Version:  A more challenging and difficult version can be played with one rule change.  To place a card on a Tableau Pile it must be the same Color as the top card (not just the same Suit) and one Rank lower

Basic Strategy:
It is harder to create open Piles and to start new Piles in the Tableau compared to the Standard Rules, so Players should save Aces and strategically start a new Pile when they have a King of the same Suit (or Color with the Hard Version) in another Pile.  Players should not automatically move a card to the Foundation when they can, but wait for a strategic time.  In Standard Solitaire, Players win about 1 out of 3 games.  With the Purple Rules, Players win about 1 out of 2 games, and with the Hard Version Players win about 1 out of 10 games or less.
